EMPOWER KIDS.
FEED THE FUTURE.

The time is now.

We have a once in a generation chance to help our kids understand that they have the power to change their future.

Early childhood experiences profoundly change how our kids understand the world around them.

And what we teach kids about good food, the foods items and the environment today, creates the building blocks for what their food habits will look like in the future.

The Little Food Festival is an opportunity to re-write what the future will look like for our kids and planet.

The Festival is made up of activation zones that represent each stage of the food system. During the April 2024 school holidays, kids rolled up their sleeves up to plant seedlings, dived into the world of bush food, unleashed their creativity in craft activities, mastered the art of preparing nutritious meals and more!

Message from the Lord Mayor of Melbourne

Children were invited to play, eat and discover until their hearts and bellies are content, at the Little Food Festival. This family-friendly event at Federation Square encouraged kids to explore the food system, and how their food choices affect their health and the environment.

The City of Melbourne is proud to support the festival, a great hands-on opportunity for our budding gardeners, cooks and diners. Planting seeds, exploring bush food, preparing delectable meals – the fun festival program encouraged everyone to have a go. Congratulations to the organisers.
